i met Almond girl today…

…and she was amazing!

i do not remember talking to a girl that articulate who is still in elementary school. she wants to be a politician and change the society we live in. she knows about life and loss. she knows about love. she knows about forgiveness. and she knows how to read, but only in braille. and can she ever! oh, my god, watching that girl read was one of the most incredible, unbelievable moments of my entire life!

so, Almond girl has friends. her friends are like her, too. some of them can’t walk, some of them can’t see, some of them have other physical disadvantages, but all of them are capable of love! and boy, do they love a lot!

i am an asmyle alumni, and our project was to activate elementary school kids. two wonderful girls thought it would be a good idea to take board games and sweets and goodies to the kids who study at the  special needs school. thirty of them live in a building right next, they are mostly from out of town, some even from out of country.

we went inside with all the bags and the principal introduced us. we started unpacking, and they were thanking us. the smiles on their faces were precious, full of joy.

the music blasted off, and they started dancing, spinning around, singing out loud, the whole nine yards! i was excited! i was ecstatic!

blowing bubbles!

i sat down and talked to the future lawyer girl. she liked puzzles. thanked me for bringing puzzles. “you are most welcome! hope you solve them all!” i said. she wants to go to law school and maybe study abroad. very good! you should. there are so many people not wanting to do it! brave future lawyer girl.

sat down with the angel girl and one of the project girls. they were talking music. i can talk music too. so we talked music. was super fun. angel girl also reads braille. they went later to write down some lyrics. she likes music.

i went to find my other project girl and saw she was in Almond girl’s bedroom, reading braille. “that is so fascinating!” i almost yelled. it was. i cannot believe someone can actually read something like that! do you know how complicated it is?! wow!

so we hung out. talked. had fun. for about two hours.

then we exchanged phone numbers. we shall see them soon again.

all the love,
